Secret: I don’t entirely know what a “good” photograph looks like. This one is about composition, of course; I think the light, while important to the color of the juice (grapefruit!), serves mainly to highlight or create the shapes united in the frame. Although, come to think of it, it was nice having a bluer background to play off the warm wood of the table. So sure, color, too. But…I dunno. It’s also lonely? Lone glass, empty chair. What I am saying is: [some] “artists” don’t always exactly know just what it is they’re doing or saying. There were a lot of things happening when I pressed the shutter.
I was thirsty, too, there’s that.
